Writing about writing

It’s the 1 November and we’re officially into NaNoWriMo!

For those who don’t know, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. It’s an event which challenges people to write a 50,000 word novel in the space of 30 days. You can register online here and you can find me on the site here.

I last took part back in 2014 and was successful in churning out a first draft of Iarraindorn. Set in c. 25AD, it tells the story of a young celtic warrior called Nuadhu who tries to unite a world of warring tribes and advancing empires against an existential threat.

This year, I’m aiming to write The War of Cain. This story goes back much further, to a time 6,000 years ago when neither angels nor demons knew that the Earth existed. A young archangel called Anael is tasked with hunting for a murderer, and discovers that Cain has done far worse than fratricide. He has surrendered his soul in order to become something other than human, and put the fate of the whole Ring of Worlds at risk.

(If these stories sound familiar, it is because they serve as prequels to From the Hill of Megiddo. If you haven’t yet read it, then you can buy it online here.)

Are you taking part in NaNoWriMo? What sort of book are you aiming to write? Comment below!
